Finn, A Glorious Hunter
Finn is a 1999 Hunter 340 sailboat that was commissioned in 1998.
You are also invited to visit the web page for the manufacturer of Finn, Hunter Marine. There is also a great web page devoted to the owners of Hunter sailboats.

In the last 5 years Hunter has explored many new innovative ideas that are embodied in Finn. The sailing rig, including mast, boom, spreaders, and wire shrouds, is a B&R design. The B&R rig is engineered to carry less weight aloft because the mast is much thinner than masts on most other sailboats. This is accomplished by utilizing swept-back spreaders and reverse diagonals as well as mast support struts. This combination provides superior strength without a backstay and increases the stability at the same time.
Finn also has a fiberglass arch that rises above the cockpit. The boom is attached to the arch via a traveler. The result is a boon high above the deck and we haven't been hit in the head by the boom yet!
All of these innovations allow the use of really big mainsail with a large roach. The head sail is a fractional rig The main as the power sail, Hunter has eased the effort in sail handling and allowed for versatility in a variety of wind and sea conditions. The result is better performance with less effort.
In the photo above notice the two support struts running from the outside of the deck to about five feet up the mast. Also notice the white arch that runs over the cockpit
Finn, like most of the Hunter designs, is a roomy boat with plenty of living space. There is a double V-berth up front but we have removed the cushions and mainly use it for storage.

The salon has a lot of sitting space as you can see below.

The galley is on the port side (top of the layout picture) in the middle of the boat. It has a double-burner, propane stove that is gimbaled. The small freezer/refrigerator is 12-volt battery operated. There is a stainless-steel, double sink with hot and cold pressurized water. The water is heated either by a 110 volt system when we are at the dock or by radiator heat when the engine is running.

The chart table is just across from the galley on the starboard side (bottom of the layout picture) in the middle of the boat. The head is just aft of the chart table and has a salt-water head and a fresh water shower.
The main cabin where we sleep is a queen-sized double berth at the back of the boat.
